Regional Activities |
There are three regional activities that LPA members are notified of during the year.
LPA District weekend meetings
Every spring and autumn one of the chapters in our district hosts a weekend of activities at a hotel somewhere in California or Nevada. Activities usually include: welcome newcomer meeting, medical panel presentations, parent meetings, siblings discussion, teen room, tween room, childcare, evening dances on Friday and Saturday, dinner banquet on Saturday, topical discussions and workshops on any number of topics (for example: school issues, legal issues, medical insurance issues).
Painted Turtle Camp for kids
Each summer the organization established by Paul Newman holds one week of camp specifically for children with dwarfism. In addition, each autumn the Painted Turtle organization holds one weekend of camp specifically for families and their 7-16 year old children with skeletal dysplasias. This is a wonderful opportunity to check out the facilities, the staff and to take part in the fun! On-site state-of-the-art medical clinic, medical staff, and camp counselors are available at all times. Painted Turtle camp is located near Lake Hughes, CA. There is no cost to attend camp, although donations are accepted. For more information please visit the web site, www.thepaintedturtle.org. |
